Flagship Project

Restoring Nigeria'sCoastal Future

Nigeria's mangrove forests are among Africa's most biodiverse — and most threatened. SOA Nigeria is leading community-driven restoration efforts that protect coastlines, absorb carbon, and rebuild livelihoods for fishing communities.

  • Protects coastlines from erosion and storm surges
  • Sequesters 3–5× more carbon than terrestrial forests
  • Nursery habitat for 75% of tropical marine fish species
  • Supports livelihoods of 2.4 million coastal Nigerians
